Chatteris Dog Field: launching a new venture from the ground up

Chatteris Dog Field
The challenge

Starting from nothing

Launching a new business is about far more than simply opening the gates and hoping customers arrive.

Chatteris Dog Field was a completely new venture with no existing audience, no social media presence, no website, no booking system and no established customer base. The challenge was to build awareness within the local dog owning community, create excitement ahead of launch, and put the right systems in place to turn that interest into regular bookings and long term revenue.

My approach

Building the brand and the foundations

I was brought in to support the project from the very beginning, helping create both the brand and the marketing foundations needed for a successful launch. My work included:

Creation of the Chatteris Dog Field branding and visual identity
Development of the website, giving customers a simple way to learn about the facility and make bookings
Implementation and setup of the SimplyBook.me online booking system, so customers could book and pay online with ease
Creation and management of the Facebook and Instagram platforms
Building pre-launch awareness through targeted social media content
Running engagement focused competitions and campaigns to connect with local dog owners and grow the audience before opening
Securing local press coverage to support the launch and raise awareness within the community
Encouraging and managing customer reviews to build trust and social proof from day one
Momentum before launch

Building excitement before the gates opened

Rather than waiting until the field opened, I focused on creating excitement well in advance. Regular social media content showcased the progress of the site, introduced the concept to local dog owners, and encouraged people to become part of the journey before launch day arrived.

Competitions, community engagement and local awareness campaigns helped generate conversations around the business, resulting in a growing audience eager to visit once bookings became available. Alongside the social media activity, local press coverage helped introduce Chatteris Dog Field to an even wider audience, creating additional awareness and credibility ahead of launch.

By the time the gates opened, Chatteris Dog Field already had an engaged local following and a strong level of brand recognition.

The results

Alongside this, consistent customer reviews have helped build trust and visibility, stable weekly income is now generated through online bookings, and a growing local community of returning customers and dog owners continues to build.

The outcome

What the right foundations can do

The success of Chatteris Dog Field demonstrates what can happen when a new business launches with the right foundations in place. By combining branding, website development, booking systems, customer reviews, local press coverage and an active social media strategy, the business was able to build awareness quickly, attract customers from day one, and establish a reliable revenue stream within its first few months of trading.

For new businesses, creating visibility before launch can often be the difference between opening quietly and opening with momentum. Chatteris Dog Field is a great example of how the right marketing strategy can help turn a new venture into a thriving local business.
